We start our day with a cup of coffee. For many of us a cup of coffee is the perfect way to begin the day . It’s aroma make us more energetic .Each type of coffee bean has its own unique flavour. When each coffee cup reaches to our hands it takes different names and foms. Behind every cup of coffee there is a farmers hard work patience and dedication.
Coffee grow well in tropical regions with fertile soil, abundant rainfall and good shade .farmers use compost and other organic fertilisers to increase soil fertility and prevent soil erotion. When coffee cherries are ripen and turn to red farmers harvest them , wash and dry them . Then they remove the outer skin and sort them to prepare for roasting.so coffee farming demands time and careful attention.
Coffee farming demands time, patience and careful attention. But the journey of coffee does not end with harvesting. After the cherries are collected, they go through several important steps before becoming the coffee we enjoy every day.
The first step is harvesting. Once the coffee cherries are fully ripe and turn a deep red colour, farmers carefully pick them from the coffee plants. Only the ripe cherries are selected to ensure better quality.
The next step is processing. The harvested cherries are cleaned and processed to remove the outer skin and pulp. Depending on the method used, coffee can be processed through the washed, natural or honey process. Each method gives the beans a different character and flavour.
After processing, the coffee beans are dried. They are spread out under the sun and turned regularly to ensure even drying. This stage requires careful attention because excess moisture can affect the quality of the beans.
Once the beans are properly dried, they are sorted and graded. Damaged, immature and defective beans are removed, while good-quality beans are selected. The beans are then stored carefully until they are ready for the next stage.
The next important step is roasting. The green coffee beans are heated at different temperatures to bring out their aroma, colour and flavour. Light, medium and dark roasting can create very different tastes from the same coffee bean.
After roasting, the beans are cooled and ground. The grinding level depends on how the coffee will be prepared. Fine, medium or coarse grounds are used for different brewing methods.
Finally comes brewing. Hot water passes through the ground coffee and extracts its flavour, aroma and richness. This is how the journey from a tiny coffee cherry to the familiar cup of coffee on our table is completed.
So, every cup of coffee is more than just a drink. It is the result of the farmer’s hard work, the careful processing of the beans and a journey through many stages before it reaches us.
